and last updated

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette welcomed students to their first day of classes on Monday, August 17.

Campus representatives, including university president Dr. Joseph Savoie, greeted students as they stepped off the bus at Rex Street.

With the start of classes during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the university shared some things to know for new and returning students on their Facebook page.

Masks will be required in all public spaces while students are on campus, including the classroom. Social distancing guidelines, including avoiding crowds and maintaining a six-foot distance will also be required.

The university encourages students to learn the symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home and call Student Health Services should they develop any.

The university has set up a website for students and school employees to find information regarding campus operations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
