UL Lafayette today announced special parking for veterans.
The Veterans Services Office and Office of Transportation Services will allow student Veterans who have been awarded a Purple Heart to park anywhere on campus.
And, Veterans visiting campus who are not students and have a veteran’s license plate will not be ticketed when visiting campus.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette considers it an honor and privilege to be able to serve Veterans and want their time here, no matter how brief, to be as hassle free as possible, officials say.
The Veteran Services Office and Office of Transportation Services worked together on the program.
After paying their normal semester parking fees, student Veterans with a Purple Heart will be allowed to park anywhere on campus, with the exception of designated or handicapped parking spaces. The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded to those wounded or killed while serving.
Veterans with Veteran plates, who are not students, will either not be ticketed or have their parking ticket validated by the Veteran Services office with proper military credentials.
