Trees fall onto, near homes in North Lafayette

Several trees have fallen this morning in North Lafayette due to Tropical Storm Barry.

A home located on Frank Street off of East Simcoe Street received extensive damage after a large tree fell during the night.

The tree appears to have split in several places falling onto the property and home.

Frank Street has been blocked by the Lafayette Fire department.

The home was reportedly occupied by two family members who were able to exit the home safely.

Several trees have come down overnight in Acadiana as rains and winds from Tropical Storm Barry linger in the area.

Another tree reportedly fell Sunday morning between two homes off of Carmel Drive in Lafayette. No one was injured and one of home received minor damage.

Three people were in that home when the tree came down. No one was injured.

Weather was expected to continue well into Sunday, July 14 as Barry moves off to the north.
