LAFAYETTE, La. - GOHSEP and FEMA reached out to teach houses of worship and non-profits on Thursday how to apply for federal assistance if a disaster is declared for their area.
"If their facility is damaged in the future, FEMA can now provide funding to them to help repair those facilities," said Eddie Williams, FEMA. "We recognize that the church is a viable part of the community. They are the community and are the first line in response and recovery after an event."
The next training will be held at the Calcasieu Parish EOC, 901 Lake Shore Drive, Lake Charles, Friday, August 16.
