The people of Acadiana continue to support others who need a helping hand during hard times. One organization is creating a way for people to give back without ever having to come in contact with any other person preventing any risk of exposure to COVID-19.

It's a simple process that starts with one giving box delivered to your doorstep.

“We just felt at the Hub that this was a very genuine way to show that we care and that we love our city as neighbors and friends coming together while still practicing what our governor has asked us to do," said Teri Dupuy-Gore.

The Hub in Lafayette, says people can help families in need without having to put in any leg work.

“We can either drop off the box to you. We can wipe the box down. We’ll wear gloves and a mask. Drop it off on your front porch, or we can meet you. The Bayou Church is allowing us to have a meeting location for drop up pick up here," said Dupuy-Gore.

The best part is the box comes with a list of items to choose from depending on your personal preference.

“When you ask for a giving box, you can ask for giving to collect non-perishable foods or hygiene items or both. It is entirely up to you," said Dupuy-Gore.

The goal is to be able to get as many neighbors and friends to join your giving box project, allowing the Hub to supply the hundreds of community members who depend on them.

“I just want you to know there are people out there in need of just normal, basic everyday things, and it lets someone know you care," said Dupuy-Gore.

Anyone who wants more information on how to sign for the giving box can head to the Hub-Lafayette's Facebook page.
