A 17-year-old was arrested following a shooting on May 9 in Lafayette that injured one.
Police say Jaylan Ben was arrested Tuesday, May 12 in connection to the shooting in the 1300 block of W. Willow Street.
In that incident police say two individuals were riding in the same vehicle when they became involved in a verbal altercation.
Both subjects allegedly produced handguns and began shooting at each other during the altercation, police said.
One person allegedly ran from the scene.
The other drove to a residence on Orchid Street where paramedics later responded to a call of a person suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. He remains in recovery and Lafayette Police say the investigation is ongoing
Ben was arrested following a traffic stop and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a charge of attempted second degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm.
He is in recovery and as for charges the investigation is ongoing
