Students at Lafayette High were temporarily moved to the football stadium Thursday morning due to a gas leak.
The leak was reported in one of the buildings on campus.
Lafayette Parish School System CAO Jennifer Gardener tells KATC that the gas leak was from a pilot light on a stove that went out.
A vent above the stove caused the smell to travel throughout the school before students arrived on campus.
As a precaution students arriving for the day were diverted to the football stadium.
An all clear was given and student were back in the school by 7:20 am, Gardner said.
Police and the Lafayette Fire Department were on scene and also confirmed that the incident was minor.
