State Police search for driver in Lafayette Parish hit and run crash

State Police say that troopers are no longer searching in a wooded area of Lafayette Parish for a person they say was involved a hit and run crash near Gloria Switch Road.

State Police say that the crash happened near Mills Street on Thursday morning. No injuries were reported.

The suspect 32-year-old Cody Carriere of Port Barre is wanted in that crash. Police say he fled into the wooded area off of Mills Street and has not been located.

He has other warrants out for his arrest including one for hit-and-run. Details on the other warrants Carriere is wanted on were not immediately known.

A spokesperson for the department says Carriere is not considered a danger to the community. State Police say they are no longer searching for Carriere in the area.
