Last week, troopers said the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was requested by the Lafayette Police Department to investigate a July 15 officer-involved shooting involving their department. Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 5:30 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted by Lafayette City Police which led to a foot pursuit. The foot pursuit continued to the area of St. Bernadette Drive where an altercation took place between officers and the suspect. During the course of the interaction, the suspect was shot and was transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured during the incident.
