The Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association has teamed up with Town Square Media to create an alternative Mardi Gras celebration.

The aim is to keep the season and Mardi Gras spirit alive and well here in Lafayette and Acadiana. Starting February 1, 2021, you can participate virtually in this exciting event and be eligible for prizes totaling $10,000. Winners will be selected from two (2) different categories: 1) “Mardi Gras on the Geaux” and 2) “Yardi Gras”.

To enter the “Mardi Gras on the Geaux” category, you simply need to submit photographs depicting your float (i.e., a trailer, truck and/or car), decorated in festive Mardi Gras spirit, and captured in front of your favorite parade route location in the City of Lafayette.

You can also enter the “Yardi Gras” competition by submitting photographs of your home or business decorated in Mardi Gras style. Individuals, groups, businesses and any organizations in the designated areas are all eligible for entry in the “Yardi Gras” category. (See terms for details.)

Greater Southwest and Town Square Media have assembled an outstanding panel of celebrity judges who will begin reviewing the submitted photo entries after the submission deadline of 5:00 p.m. Mardi Gras day, February 16, 2021 and Greater Southwest and Town Square Media will announce the first place ($2,500 cash prize); 2nd place ($1,500 cash prize) and 3rd place ($1,000 cash prize) winners in each category via Facebook, Town Square Media radio stations and social media on or before Friday, February 19, 2021.

Greater Southwest would like to thank on behalf of itself and its member Krewes, the title sponsor for this event, Service Chevrolet and Cadillac, as well as presenting sponsors, Sonic, Primeaux RV and the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission.

To enter the contest, please submit your photograph(s) to Townsquare Media Stations App or follow the link https://973thedawg.com/yardi-gras-and-mardi-gras-on-the-geaux-contests/

Keep in mind that “Mardi Gras to Geaux” entries must be photographed in front of your favorite recognizable spot along the parade route and “Yardi Gras” entries must provide the address location to be eligible for prizes. For any entrant who wishes to have their address posted on our Greater Southwest Facebook page and/or website for drive by viewings, express authorization and permission must be provided with your entry.
