Small protest at Lafayette Mayor-President's home

Protest in front of Guillory's house
Posted at 4:28 PM, Aug 29, 2020

A small protest was organized in front of Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory's home on Saturday.

Tara Laxey with Unity7 was BBQing in front of his home.

"I want to have an open door, and it may not be for everyone. Some people might not agree with it, but the thing is, Josh doesn't want to come to our neighborhood so we are coming to his," Laxey said. "And we are coming in peace. We are not here to be radical and noisy or whatever. Everybody BBQs in their yard. We are just doing it in the street because I don't live here."

Sheriff Mark Garber confirmed in a press conference that the woman had been arrested and is facing charges of disturbing the peace and obstruction of a public passage.
