Sixth Annual Project Front Yard Awards nominations now open

LAFAYETTE, La. - Nominations for the Sixth Annual Project Front Yard Awards is now open. The awards are given annually to recognize individuals and organizations in Lafayette who are working to create a cleaner, greener and environmentally conscious community.

Nominations will be accepted in five categories; Best in Preservation, Best in Restoration, Best in Advocacy, Overall Best Project Front Yard Effort and Mayor's Citizen Action Award.

The initial categories have changed to focus on three areas - Restore, Preserve and Advocate - PFY works to encourage individuals and groups to restore the vibrancy from streets to neighborhoods, preserve our parks, wildlife, green spaces, and waterways, and advocate the implementation of zero waste practices to improve recycling efforts. The latest addition, Mayor's Citizen Action Award, reflects the inspiring leadership from volunteers and businesses who use the Gnome Nation application.

Project Front Yard partner Iberiabank will host the Awards Ceremony on October 3, 2019 to honor the recipients.

To be eligible, individual nominees must either live or work in Lafayette Parish and organizations for nomination must be located within Lafayette Parish.
