Shooting at Lafayette convenience store leaves one in critical condition

Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting on University Avenue that left one person in critical condition.

Police were called to the parking lot of a convenience store Friday evening, where two individuals had gotten into a verbal altercation.

The altercation turned violent when one of the individuals produced a gun and shot the other once in the torso area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is undergoing surgery and is in critical condition, according to LPD spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Griffin.

No arrests have been made and there is no suspect information available at this time.
