Set for court in the 15th JDC? Here's what you need to know

If you are set for court in Lafayette, Acadia or Vermilion parishes, you need to read an order issued this morning by the court.

Most civil hearings and trials are being postponed. That doesn't apply to all cases, however.

What you need to do depends on what your situation is, and what kind of case you have. The courthouses are open, but many things are being reset, postponed and canceled. Again, what that means to you depends on what kind of case you have. Some hearings will happen anyway, depending on the case.

The judges are asking anyone who doesn't have to be at the courthouses to stay away.

If you were supposed to have jury duty between today and March 23, your service will be rescheduled. You must call the phone number on your notice for instructions.

If you have an attorney, you should call your lawyer to double-check what you need to do.
