LAFAYETTE, La. — The Rotary Club of Lafayette South is helping those in need by putting together Thanksgiving Day baskets.

Members gathered at City Club in River Ranch on Wednesday to put together essential holiday food items to give struggling families a chance to celebrate.

Around 50 baskets were assembled and will be delivered to those affected by the pandemic and the hurricanes.

"This year we had the opportunity to work with local churches to find people who were in need due to the pandemic and out of work," said LaSonja Dunbar. "There are a lot of people misplaced due to the hurricanes in Lake Charles so we were also able to provide baskets to them as well."

Items included in the baskets are non-perishable foods like canned fruits, rice, stock and other holiday essentials.
