The fire department and local law enforcement in Lafayette Parish are on the scene of a natural gas line rupture along South Richfield Road.

Duson Police Chief Kip Judice says that the gas line rupture is in the 1300 block of South Richfield Road (la 343).

The road is blocked from Landry Road to Cameron Street. Duson Police are diverting traffic to either Fieldspan Road or Riceland Road. Drivers will not be allowed to travel along South Richfiled will crews are on scene.

Judice says the closure will likely be until noon on Friday July 10, 2020.

As of 10:00 a.m., the company that owns the natural gas line is out at the scene of the rupture. The Lafayette fire Department says that the scene will be cleared shortly.

No evacuations have been issued, according to the Lafayette Sheriff's Office.
