A retired Lafayette officer is thanking two young officers for their help in returning a stolen item.

Retired Lafayette Police Officer, Lt. Paul Taylor, commended the hard work and dedication of two young officers Cullen Brooks and Murraysha Sheppard. The two were able to recover a handgun that was stolen from Lt. Taylor's vehicle from a juvenile that was out past curfew.

"I though it was an outstanding job the two officers did." Taylor said "And they should be commended. It's not out of his way, he's just doing his job but for me I think that is special. We need to recognize officers that do good things."
