It is now one week away from Downtown Lafayette's public forum on downtown parking set for next Wednesday, February 3 at 8:00 am at Acadiana Center for the Arts.

"Since we opened up the event last Friday, a spokesperson from LCG confirmed that the proposal to raise the hourly parking rates downtown from 50 cents to $1 per hour and increase enforcement to 24 hours a day will not go into effect," a release from downtown officials says. "It’s important now more than ever to open up a dialogue and ensure that stakeholders most impacted by any future changes to parking, including business owners, residents, employees, developers, and visitor, have a chance to share their insights, concerns, and ideas for how to make downtown parking more user-friendly and business-friendly."

The event will include information on how other cities successfully manage parking programs in urban environments, and downtown officials also be using interactive tools during the forum to collect information and data that will be shared with LCG Administration.
