Suspect arrested after barricading himself inside a Lafayette home Thursday morning

The Lafayette Police Department has released more information on the incident that shut down W. Congress St. for a short period of time Thursday morning.

Officers say they responded to a burglary in the 100 block of Winchester Dr. around 4:45 am on February 11.

The caller told 911 that a person they knew entered their house without permission and that the person possibly had a gun.

SWAT and crisis negotiators were called out to the scene due to the suspect being possibly armed.

After contact was made with the home's occupants, police say three people exited. A search found no weapon in the house or on the suspect.

As a result of the incident, Jacob Celestine was arrested on terrorizing, false imprisonment, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling charges.

KATC's Abby Breidenbach was on the scene as police and SWAT worked to clear the residence.
