The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a stabbing at the Acadiana Mall.

A spokesperson for the police department, Sgt. Wayne Griffin says a fight broke out at around 4:50 pm in the food court and three people were stabbed during the altercation. They were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The mall did not have to be locked down, but police do have the food court entrance blocked off. There are no suspects at this time, according to police.

A mall employee who wished to remain anonymous tells us he saw a group of people gathered and felt like something was about to happen. He said the incident was "chaotic" and added that there was "blood everywhere. Everybody's okay though, that's the main thing."

Other witnesses say they heard loud screaming and got out of the area quickly.
