Two arrested following barricade situation on Lasalle Street

UPDATE: Two people have been arrested in connection with a standoff near Simcoe Street in Lafayette.

At around 3:00 p.m. there was reported police presence is at the corner of Simcoe Street and Delord Street in Lafayette.

The Lafayette City Marshal's office says that at around 1:00 p.m. they received information that two fugitives were inside a home on the 200 block of Lasalle Street. The two fugitives, Ervin Joseph and Ikaika Lindon, both had active warrants for their arrest.

Upon arrival to the location, Joseph was immediately arrested. Lindon, according to officers, barricaded himself inside a home on Lasalle.

The Marshal's Office says they released gas into the home and they were able to enter and arrest Lindon who they believed was hiding in the attic area of the residence.

Lafayette police assisted the Marshal's Office with the standoff incident.

Joseph was wanted for failure to appear and resisting an officer. Ikaika Lindon was wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of a weapon, resisting arrest and principle to theft.

Lafayette PD assisted Marshal's Office in the incident. Lafayette Police Tactical Narcotics Team was also on scene.
