Duson Police are asking for help in identifying the man they believe stole a truck stop clerk's 17-year-old car on Christmas Day.
The incident happened at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Day.
A clerk was working at the LOVE's Truck Stop in Duson, and had pulled their car, a 2003 Lexus SUV, around to the front of the store to warm it up. The clerk left the car running in front of the store, and went inside to finish their shift.
They saw a man get into the car and drive away.
Video surveillance caught the man on camera, and believe he arrived at the truck stop in a 2005 GMC pick-up truck. The pick-up truck turned out to be stolen in Lafayette that same day.
The video surveillance captures the white truck arriving and seemingly waiting for a person to leave a running vehicle unoccupied with the specific intent to steal a vehicle. The people in the pickup never exit until the opportunity to take the Lexus arises, police say.
The Lexus license plate is ZGS915.
Duson Police are asking anyone with information on either of the vehicles shown or if they can identify the male in the photographs to please contact Crime Stoppers of Lafayette at 337 232-8477.
