The Carencro Police Department has released details on the September 3 crash that claimed the life of an Opelousas bicyclist.
The department says that they responded to the crash shortly before 9:00 pm on the I-49 Frontage Road just north of Gloria Switch.
There, they say, they learned that 47-year-old Lesley Sam was riding his bicycle south on the Frontage Road when he swerved across the roadway and was struck by another vehicle.
Police say at the time of the crash Sam was wearing dark clothing and that there were no lights on his bicycle.
He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The other driver was not injured in the crash.
Police say that impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor.
