Police are investigating a shooting in Lafayette on Gilman Street.
On December 2 at 12:00 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 300 block of W. Gilman Street, according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin.
Once on scene, officers located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Police say the suspect was administering first aid measures to the victim when officers arrived.
Medical assistance was provided to the victim by first responders prior to being transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, stated Griffin.
The suspect was quickly detained, and transported to the police department for an interview with investigators.
