LAFAYETTE, La. - Police are investigating a shooting on the 100 block of Alsandor Dr. that occurred around 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Officers arriving on scene located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. First aid measures were quickly administered. The investigation revealed that there was a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect. The altercation turned violent when the suspect shot the victim in the abdomen.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Monkurvis Irvin of Lafayette, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the suspect left the scene prior to officers' arrival.
The investigation is ongoing.
