Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Saturday in Lafayette.
The Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 500 block of Joan Street at 11:00 pm, according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin, spokesperson for the Department.
Once on the scene, officers located one victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Medical assistance was provided to the victim prior to him being transported to a local hospital.
Once at the hospital, the victim died from his wound, Griffin stated.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
This investigation is ongoing.
