Lafayette Police are working an incident that left one man injured Saturday evening.

Police were called to the 400 block of Vieux Orleans shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday, a spokesman said. They learned that a group of four people had been fighting. Three of the men started beating the fourth, the spokesman said.

One of the suspects had a gun, and he allegedly fired it into the air, the spokesman said. The gun also discharged as the man was beating the victim with it, the spokesman said.

The victim wasn't shot, but he was injured in the beating. Officers learned that two of the three suspects fled, but they were able to apprehend the third. We've reached out to LPD for the name of the person arrested.

The victim is being treated at a local hospital for his injuries.

Warrants are being obtained for the other two suspects, the spokesman said.
