The Lafayette Police Department and LPD Community Relations Committee will hold a community walk Monday night in Lafayette.

The walk begins at 6:00 pm in the 2000 block of E. Simcoe and ends in the the 1600 block.

Participants are asked to gather before the walk in the parking lot of the Progressive Baptist Church at 5:30 pm.

According to LPD, the purpose of the walk is to visit with neighborhood residents and listen to the concerns of the community.

Community members are invited to join the walk and meet with officers.

LPD says the event is a way for the department to continue their efforts to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.
