Houston man identified as victim of fatal pedestrian crash in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. - A 37-year-old Houston man has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in a Wednesday morning crash.

Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a major traffic crash on the Evangeline Thruway involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on August 5 at 6:15 a.m., according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin, spokesperson for the Department.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling in the center northbound lane of the 2800 block of SE Evangeline Thruway. For reasons unknown at this time, the pedestrian entered the roadway. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle.

The pedestrian, later identified as Hunter Hughes suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

This investigation is ongoing.
