This year, Paul Breaux Middle School will open school differently than usual.

Principal Katherine Rayburn says that in an effort to ensure a smooth opening and focus on rules, routines, and procedures the school will stagger openings for different grade levels. For this school year, students will begin school as follows:

On Thursday, August 15th - only 6th graders will report.

On Friday, August 16th - only 7th graders will report.

On Monday, August 19th - only 8th graders will report.

All students will report together on Tuesday, August 20th.

"This staggered opening (with one-grade level each day) will allow all of us to begin building positive relationships with students. Your children will have more one on one attention, guidance, and help on this day. All adults on campus will be focused on the needs of just one grade level of students," Rayburn said.

ayburn says that students will interact with their teachers as well as teachers from other grade levels. She says that this staggering will help students recognize other adults on the campus and will always be able to spot a friendly, familiar face.
