A campaign started to raise funds for homeless families affected by COVID-19 in Lafayette Parish has raised over $30,000.
The Lost My Home Fund started in June with a goal of raising $50,000 for Catholic Charities of Acadiana to help families in the parish experiencing housing instability or who lost their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Social Entertainment, the organizers of the fundraiser, asked for the community's help in raising funds.
According to the fund's Facebook page, $13,010 was raised by the public through the social media platform to support homeless families.
Donations could also be made through the Catholic Charities of Acadiana website.
Gus Rezende who started the Lost My Home Fund thanked those who supported the campaign.
"Acadiana, WE DID IT AGAIN!" Rezende's post reads. "We're absolutely thrilled to announce that, together, we raised $30,535 for Lost My Home Fund!!"
KATC's Jordan Lippincott spoke with Rezende in early July about the fundraiser and the July 10 deadline.
