Fire engulfed a business in Youngsville this morning, leaving one person dead.
Youngsville Firefighters were called to a business in the 200 block of Brahman Drive just before 10 a.m., Chief Blair Rivette said.
Firefighters received a report that one person was still in the building, the chief said.
When they arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke throughout the entire building. Firefighters did a search and found one person in the far back corner of the building who wasn't able to escape, he said.
The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Darrel Francis, he said.
One firefighter also sustained minor injuries, and an employee of the business had minor injuries, the chief said. Both were treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lafayette Fire Department, the chief said.
