One man died, another was shot in the back and a third person was wounded in the foot at a shooting yesterday near downtown Lafayette.
Police were called to an address in the 500 block of South Pierce early Sunday. They found three people shot.
Jimmy Fuselier, 35, of Carencro was transported to a hospital but died of his injuries, police say.
Another man was shot in the back, and tried to drive himself to the hospital. While trying to do that, he was involved in a major crash at the intersection of Evangeline Thruway and Jefferson Street. He is listed in stable condition, police say.
The third victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot, and refused medical attention on scene, police say.
This is an ongoing investigation.
