New Orleans man arrested for using fake ID, checks in Scott

A New Orleans man was arrested on Monday, July 22 after police say he used a fake ID and cashed counterfeit checks at several locations in Scott.

Police say 59-year-old Manuel Blunt, Jr. of New Orleans was identified by an employee of a local grocery store as having used a fake ID and cashing a counterfeit check.

Blunt was taken into custody at the grocery store and brought to the Scott Police Department for questioning. There, officers say Blunt allegedly admitted to using a fake ID and cashing the counterfeit checks in order to obtain cash.

Police say that Blunt used the ID and fake checks in several locations while traveling through Scott.

Blunt was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where he was booked on five counts of Forgery, five counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse, and five counts of Unlawful Possession of Fraudulent Documents for Identification Purposes.

His bond was set at $10,000
