Kiwanis of Lafayette is forming a new club in the western part of the parish, and is looking for members.
The first meeting is set for Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on the Frontage Road in Scott. Anyone interested in the club is invited to attend.
Here's a post from the club's Facebook page:
"Some kids are hungry. Some kids need help learning to read. Others need mentors. Help us help kids!
A group of us is getting together (socially distanced) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 17 at the Holiday Inn Express (735 I-10 Frontage Road) in Scott to figure out how we can help kids in our community realize a brighter tomorrow," the post states. "Can't make the meeting? PM us so we can let you know about future service projects and meetings. Whether you’re a young professional, a new parent or a retiree, you can make a difference in the lives of children. Come help us change the future of children in Scott and around the world. They need us — now!"
