A new community project, "Reaching the Generations," is offering weekly Saturday activities for kids.
The group plans to hold sessions every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Activites include "teachings," workshops, field trips, "forming fellowship," counseling and tutoring.
"The project includes teachings and workshops that enable growth in their personal lives," a spokeswoman said. "We believe in planting a seed into each of them so that one day, we will see the fruit of transformation in Lafayette, Louisiana."
The group's priority is to reach children in the Latino community, explained LCG Chief of Minority Affairs Carlos Harvin.
"To provide mentorship and giving them exposure to the arts and music, giving them training and development, so they're going to be successful in their education and grow up to love the city of Lafayette," Harvin added.
