A meeting was held today in the parking lot of the Domingue Recreation Center on Mudd Avenue.
Activists and citizens gathered to talk about restoring cuts made to the Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department, and about protecting the jobs of workers targeted for lay-offs.
The center is one of those targeted for closure by the Guillory administration.
On Tuesday, the City Council is slated to give final consideration to a resolution that would sever city money from parish money in that department, with an eye toward restoring the cuts. That meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
