Today the ribbon was cut on the McComb Veazey Community House.

This house will be used as a gathering place for the McComb Veazey neighborhood and is another step in the community revitalization effort.

Today's event kicks off Reimagine McV Fest. McComb-Veazey; the Neighborhood Coterie is inviting the community to attend this free event and give their feedback on the proposed designs to refurbish the filling station next to the Community House into a community farm stand.

The house is located at 421 12th Street, and the event lasts until 7 p.m.

This "Community House," before its rebirth, was adjudicated and blighted right in the heart of McComb. The McComb-Veazey Neighborhood Coterie in partnership with Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Project Front Yard and UL Lafayette School of Architecture and Design, are creating a space where all residents will reap the benefits of beautifying the area and improving the quality of life of the local community.

The Community House will be used as a meeting space for the neighborhood, including hosting workshops around small business, financial literacy, health, and safety.
