LAFAYETTE — The man killed in a SW Evangeline Thruway house fire on Saturday has been identified.
The Lafayette Fire Department says that Fire officials have identified the victim in the house fire as 68-year-old Patrick Kevin Berry. The fire department says that Berry is not originally from Lafayette, but has lived in the city for at least 20 years. He was the only resident of the home.
Investigators determined that an electrical malfunction in his bedroom contributed to the fire. Officials say they did not find any smoke alarms in the house.
