LAFAYETTE, La. - More than 1,300 meat pies were purchased Thursday from a business that employs people with special needs and donated to St. Joseph Diner to help feed homeless.
DREAMS Manufacturing Company, which sells meat pies to parish jails in Louisiana, employs 21 individuals with special needs.
DREAMS opened last year and were hoping to expand their business to grocery stores and even opening a cafe.
DREAMS started a campaign on Friday taking donations to provide meat pies to St Joseph Diner every month.
Organizers say $1,500 a month donated can provide 1000 pies a month to St Joseph Diner.
