Lafayette Utilities System crews are headed to Alabama to assist in Hurricane Sally recovery efforts.

The company posted to their Facebook page on Wednesday, September 16, that crews were on their way to help Riviera Utilities in Foley, Alabama with power restoration.

14 workers and 11 trucks will be assisting in recovery work as part of the company's mutual aid with other public owned utilities in the American Public Power Association.

Hurricane Sally made landfall as a Category 2 storm on Wednesday morning leaving behind considerable damage, flooding, and widespread power outages.

LUS says that more than 40,000 Riviera Utilities customers are without power due to the storm.
