As the sun comes up and the winds die down, officials are beginning to set eyes on bringing Acadiana out of the dark.

Crews are already headed out of the Cajundome Convention Center to start that restoration work.

LUS says that around 40,000 customers are without power on Saturday, October 10.

Nearly 50,000 were without power around midnight.

Alex Antonowitsch says that many of the company's power and transmission lines were damaged as Hurricane Delta passed through the area.

Crews from Florida are rolling out this morning to begin restoration efforts.

Around 320 linemen and tree trimming personnel from Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia and the Carolinas will be working to bring Lafayette Parish residents back on line.

Power restoration will begin with assessments of damage. After that assessment, repairs will start at generating facilities and transmission lines. Work will then move on to distribution stations, main line repairs to critical need facilities, and then to power poles and transformers.

LUS customer's experiencing a power outage are asked to call (337) 291-9200. For any downed power lines or water issues, call (337) 291-5700.
