LUS announces payment arrangements for customers affected by COVID-19

Posted
and last updated

Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) suspended service disconnects and late payment penalties for LUS customers after Governor John Bel Edwards declared a statewide Public Health Emergency on Friday, March 13. As the moratorium on service disconnects and late payment charges is ending, LUS recognizes that customers who were affected by COVID-19 and the stay-at-home order might have experienced financial hardship as a result.

LUS utility customers can apply for a payment arrangement that would spread their existing utility bill balance across multiple monthly payments for up to six months.

Customers who need to make payment arrangements can visit www.lus.org and click the link at the top of the page to submit a request for payment arrangement. LUS will respond to requests within 3-5 business days.

Customers will have until August 17, 2020 to set up a payment arrangement to avoid a service disconnection or late payment charges.
