High school seniors wanting to increase their math and science scores ahead of upcoming ACT tests in February or March are invited to participate in a series of virtual online sessions offered by Texas Instruments scheduled for this month. The online series is open to 12th-grade students at GEAR UP schools, who will receive a TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator for use during the course and through ACT testing. Students can choose between two scheduled course tracks: Tuesdays or Saturdays. Each of the three virtual sessions will be 90 minutes, and students are expected to participate in all three sessions.
Option A:
Tuesday, January 12 at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, January 19 at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, January 26 at 3 p.m.
Option B:
Saturday, January 16 at 9 a.m.
Saturday, January 23 at 9 a.m.
Saturday, January 30 at 9 a.m.
The deadline to register is Monday, January 11, 2021. Students can sign up for the course and download the required Parental Permission Slip at www.lpssgearup.com.
GEAR UP is a competitive grant program of the U.S. Department of Education that increases the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education by providing states and local community-education partnerships six to seven-year grants to offer support services to high-need, middle and high schools.
