The Lafayette Parish School System has made the call for tomorrow: School will be open.
As our meteorologists have been reporting, there is no predicted precipitation during the hours when our area expects freezing temperatures. In other words: no icy roads.
It will be cold, so kids should bundle up on their way to school. You can see our most recent forecast here.
Here's the full LPSS statement:
After careful consideration and consultation with local weather officials, all Lafayette Parish School System schools and offices will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The latest reports show that road conditions will be safe for travel in the morning. Staff will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions closely throughout the evening and early morning hours. If the need arises for schools to close, we will send notification as soon as possible. Please remember we announce school delays and closures via text alerts, our website, social media accounts, and local media outlets.
Students will be allowed to wear jeans or sweatpants with uniform tops tomorrow, LPSS posted on their Facebook page Tuesday evening.
A video from our Good Morning Acadiana crew provided an answer that question we've been getting. No Acadiana school district have announced any plans to close schools.
