The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its own Saturday.
In a post on Facebook, the department announced the "unexpected loss" of Corporal Jacinda Chevis.
Chevis was a 13-year veteran of the sheriff's office and was currently serving as a LPCC Special Operations Deputy.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends as they grieve for the loss of their loved one," the post said.
