LPD: Weapon discharged during fight at Acadiana Mall, no injuries reported

Lafayette Police are responding to the Acadiana Mall after reports of shots fired.

According to LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, officers responded to reports of a fight in the food court at the Acadiana Mall on Ambassador Caffery.

A weapon was discharged during the incident and one shot was fired, police say. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Lafayette Police emphasize that this was an isolated incident, and they are working to locate the individuals involved.

The mall is closed for the remainder of the evening.

Witnesses tell KATC they heard shots, then saw people running. People were held in the back of stores by mall employees.
