LPD unit shot at while officers respond to call on Mudd Avenue

Lafayette Police are investigating after a police unit was hit by gunfire on Sunday night.

According to police, officers with Lafayette PD were responding to a gather of people at a business on Mudd Avenue in Lafayette at around midnight.

Spokesperson for the department Sgt. Wayne Griffin says that the officers were clearing the group when a single shot was fired by and unknown person. Griffin adds that the officers who were responding were not fired at.

A tire on their vehicle was hit. The officers were not inside or near the vehicle when the shot was fired.

No one was injured.
