The Lafayette Police Department will mark the third anniversary of Corporal Michael Middlebrook's death with a ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and take place at police headquarters at 900 E. University Avenue.

Cpl. Middlebrook was shot and killed on October 1, 2017, while responding to a call at a Moss St. convenience store. The suspect in that case is facing a first degree murder charge.

LPD interim chief Scott Morgan and the department will honor the life of Cpl. Middlebrooks, who is survived by his wife, daughter, and two step-daughters.

The Middlebrook Foundation has been set up in his honor and to continue his mission of helping the poor and less fortunate residents of the Lafayette community.
