The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 900 block of Carmel Drive Friday evening.
Officers arriving on scene at 6:45 p.m., they located a 30-year-old female victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.
According to investigators, the victim was speaking with two other individuals when a male suspect produced a handgun. The suspect fired the weapon, striking the victim.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
